Woman injured as hay bales fall

A 65-year-old woman from Wiltshire suffered a suspected double fracture to her back when she was buried underneath 40 bales of straw.

The farmer was working in a barn near Marshfield when the accident happened on Thursday morning.

A Great Western Ambulance spokesman said the initial concern was keeping back cattle in the barn.

"We also had to make sure no more bales fell on the patient before she could be airlifted to hospital," he added.
