Town's playgrounds transformed

The first phase of a £1.1m programme to revamp children's play areas in Swindon has been completed.

Six playgrounds in the town have been transformed after Swindon Borough Council was awarded money from the government's Playbuilder Project.

The latest to be finished is the Pembroke recreation ground which now has an aerial runway and pod swing.

Over the next two years, the council plans to renovate facilities for 16 other play sites in the town.

Garry Perkins, of Swindon Borough Council, said: "It has been a pleasure to see the transformation of these play areas so far, and I hope children will enjoy them for years to come."
