A woman who deliberately rammed her car into a vehicle her ex-girlfriend was in before threatening to kill her has been jailed for 32 months. Swindon Crown Court heard that Holly Salter, of Bradford-on-Avon, caused the crash in the town on 5 September. Salter had been awaiting sentence for causing actual bodily harm over an attack her ex-girlfriend's new partner. Salter, 21, was convicted of dangerous driving and making threats to kill and sentenced for all three offences. The court heard that Salter's former partner, Louise McGrath, was travelling in a car driven by a friend when they heard a crash.

Once they realised that a car had rammed them, they attempted to drive off but were pursued through the town by Salter and rammed on further occasions. A few hours later on the same day Ms McGrath received text messages from Salter, one of which suggested she would be murdered. A fortnight before the incident Salter had been found guilty of actual bodily harm after a jury heard she had attacked Ms McGrath's new girlfriend. The 17-year-old had some of her hair cut off in the attack. Salter and Ms McGrath had been a couple for five years, but the relationship ended after Salter had a miscarriage in December. Jailing her, Judge Douglas Field said: "Using your car, as it were, as a weapon you rammed the car in which Miss McGrath was a passenger several times. "Then afterwards, when they must have been very frightened by that incident, she received these texts in which you threaten to kill her and that must indeed have been more terrifying."
