Sex claim school worker suspended

A worker at a Swindon school has been suspended amid allegations of unlawful sexual activity.

Churchfields School in the Old Walcot area confirmed the staff member had been suspended as investigations go on.

Wiltshire Police arrested the 24-year-old Swindon man on 21 September on suspicion of unlawful sexual activity, but details have only just emerged.

A force spokeswoman said: "Following interview, the man was granted police bail until the New Year."

Churchfields is a mixed comprehensive which teaches just under 1,000 pupils aged 11 to 16.

Headteacher Steve Flavin said: "I can confirm that a member of staff was suspended from Churchfields School on 22 September.

"This matter is now being investigated by the police. Due to the investigation I cannot comment further at this time."
