Police in Tidworth have started a rape inquiry and stepped up patrols after a teenage girl was attacked. The local girl was grabbed from behind and dragged into a wooded area. The victim managed to scream and bite her attacker's left hand during the assault near Beech Hill Road at about 2100 GMT on 21 October. Insp Martyn Sweett said: "This is a very unusual incident for Tidworth and as with all reports of sexual assaults we are taking it very seriously." The man ran off after the assault and the woman was able to make her way home. The offender is described as averagely built, between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall and wearing a black hooded top, black Adidas trousers and black shoes. Police appealed to people who know a man who has bite injuries to his left hand. The allegation was reported to Wiltshire police on 2 November.
