A father-of-three found dying in the street suffered severe head injuries from one punch, a court has heard. Adrian Cooksey, 50, of Trowbridge, died on 8 March after he was found lying on the pavement in Spa Road, Melksham. The jury at Bristol Crown Court heard he had suffered a punch to the left side of his jaw which also fractured the right side. Thomas Richard Minshull, 20, a student, of Spa Road, Melksham, denies manslaughter. The court was shown CCTV footage of Mr Minshull and his friend, Jamie Bristow, walking through Melksham after a night of heavy drinking in Bath shortly before 0245 GMT. Mr Minshull and Mr Bristow told police they walked home along their usual route and nothing out of the ordinary happened that night. Mr Cooksey was found at around 0250 GMT struggling for breath by a woman also returning home after a night out. Mr Cooksey, who ran the building and plumbing firm A Cooksey & Sons, died at the Royal United Hospital in Bath after his life support machine was switched off. The case continues.
