Tented market opens for business

Swindon's tented market
Some 22 of the 32 stalls available have been taken up

Swindon's town centre tented market has re-opened for business two years after it closed.

During that time it has stood empty, as plans to re-develop the site fell through.

Twenty two of the 32 stalls that are available have been taken for the first day of trading.

Market boss John Doyle said: "At least 10 are old faces who traded in the market previously and were sort of champing at the bit to get back in."

Debbie Bryan who has opened a hairdressers in the market said: "The big thing for us was the location.

"To be able to get into the town centre and have the passing business is fantastic, that was the selling point for us really."
