Learning bus vandalised at campus

Damaged bus
Repairs to the bus are estimated at £5,000, the college said

A bus used by Swindon College to help people aged from 16 to 19 learn employment skills has been vandalised.

A college spokeswoman said that the bus, which was parked on the North Star campus on Wednesday evening, had had most of its windows smashed.

It is estimated repairs to the vehicle will cost £5,000. The college said it was considering whether it was worth repairing the bus.

The attack was caught on CCTV. The footage has been handed to the police.

The bus had been due to be used as part of the college's summer programme to discourage bored youngsters from committing antisocial acts.

Geraldine Brant from the college said: "The whole idea really is to go out into the community, work with young people and really show them that there's other things that they can do rather than smash up my bus."
