Children held after thatch blaze

A 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy are being questioned by police on suspicion of setting fire to a thatched roof at a house in Wiltshire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Amesbury just before 2100 BST on Friday.

A Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said it was able to get the blaze under control before it spread.

"Crews managed to create a fire break in the thatch which stopped the fire from causing further damage," he said.

The pair are being held at Salisbury police station.
