Ritchie aims to make home greener

Ashcombe House
The home was previously surrounded by vegetable gardens

Guy Ritchie, former husband of pop star Madonna, has submitted plans to make his £9m Wiltshire home "greener".

Mr Ritchie, 40, says he wants to make Ashcombe House near Salisbury "more self sufficient" with greenhouses, vegetable plots and fruiteries.

In the application he said it would provide future work for a gardener.

Wiltshire Council is expected to make a decision to approve or refuse the application by 21 August.

Film director Ritchie was given the 18th Century estate as part of his divorce settlement after his marriage to Madonna broke up in October 2008.
