Council elections 2009: Wiltshire

Stonehenge, Wiltshire

Wiltshire is internationally known for its ancient monuments, including Stonehenge and Avebury Stone Circle.

Many visitors also travel to experience its eight white horses carved into hillsides or to see Salisbury Cathedral.

Its newly created unitary council is one of five across England at which councillors will be chosen for the first time on 4 June.

A total of 98 councillors, more than at any other English authority, will be chosen in the vote.
