Two arrested over attempted rape

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and attempted rape after a woman was indecently assaulted in her home near Swindon.

The woman, who is in her 20s, woke up to find two men had broken in to her home on 2 January.

She hit one of the intruders with a piece of wood and both then left taking cash and jewellery with them.

Two local men aged 16 and 20 were arrested and released on bail while police carry out further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Andy Bridge who is leading the investigation said: "I am appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the Elborough Road/Jubilee Road area of Moredon, Swindon on Friday 2 January 2009, or who has any information about this incident, to contact us."
