Chance to ask flooding questions

Members of the public are being invited to submit questions about flood defences to the Environment Agency ahead of a "Question Time"-style event.

The Wessex Regional Flood Defence Committee is holding a meeting in Taunton to discuss flooding in Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Topics include a review of flooding incidents in 2008 and a report on the feasibility of the Severn Barrage.

Speakers will be given three minutes to talk on issues which concern them.

"If you're interested in finding out more about how the Environment Agency is working to protect you, your home and your property from floods, this is your chance to ask the experts the questions you've always wanted to ask, in an open forum," said Mark Rice from the agency.

The event is due to be held at Taunton Rugby Football Club at 1030 GMT on 12 January 2009.
