Airfield could store unsold cars

Thousands of cars could be stored at Wroughton airfield as Swindon car manufacturer Honda copes with the economic downturn.

The plant is seeking planning permission to store cars that would normally be heading to showrooms.

Honda said it is consulting with the council and is hoping to avoid disruption.

It is looking at routes in and out of the town and said trucks will only operate between 0930 and 1530 each day.
