Family's 'lucky escape' from fire

Three people were taken to hospital after their home was severely damaged by fire.

Fire crews were called to the house in Shrewton in the early hours of Sunday.

A spokesman for Wiltshire fire service said the blaze was only discovered when one of the occupants got up to go to work.

"The bungalow wasn't fitted with a smoke alarm which could have given them an early warning. All three and their dog had a lucky escape," he added.

The roof and most of the house contents were destroyed in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
