Man charged over police pursuit

A man has been charged after a BMW car was pursued by police through parts of Wiltshire.

Officers were called to Sandringham Road, Trowbridge, after reports a set of keys and a car had been taken.

A Wiltshire Constabulary spokesman said a number of police vehicles took part in the pursuit and some had been damaged as a result.

The incident ended when the BMW crashed and landed on its side near Rowley Manor, Farleigh Hungerford.

The arrested man was charged with burglary, aggravated vehicle-taking, driving while disqualified and failing to stop when requested by police.

He is due to appear before Chippenham Magistrates.

A female horse rider in her 50s was taken to hospital for treatment after her mount became spooked at the site of the accident.

It is not though she was seriously injured.
