Public asked about health service

Malmesbury Primary Care Centre
Wiltshire PCT wants the community to support the new health centre plans

People in Wiltshire are being asked to support their primary care trust's vision for a new one-stop-shop health centre in their community.

Wiltshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is inviting the people of Trowbridge to a meeting to find out what sort of health services they want.

The PCT will showcase its plans for a new care centre next to the hospital.

It would offer GP surgeries, treatment for minor injuries, physiotherapy and rehabilitation and a birthing centre.

'Better health services'

Alison Knowles, of Wiltshire PCT, said: "Trowbridge is a growing town and thousands of people use the health services provided from the hospital every year.

"However, the hospital building is very old, and we want to build a new primary care centre to give local people the best health services - in a modern building fit for the 21st Century.

"But this vision for more and better health services will only become a reality if the community backs it - and we are appealing to the people of Trowbridge and surrounding towns to give us their support."

The centre would be part of a planned network of primary care centres across Wiltshire.

The first one opened in Malmesbury in June and more are planned in Devizes, Salisbury and Westbury.

The public meeting is on Wednesday, 3 September at Trowbridge Hospital from 1630 to 1930 BST.
