Funeral for boy, six, hit by bus

Family and friends of a six-year-old boy from Swindon who died after being hit by a bus have been paying tribute to him at his funeral.

Ashley Whiteway died after he was hit by a double-decker bus in Westlea Drive in the town on 7 August.

At Swindon's Kingsdown Crematorium on Thursday the youngster's two brothers said their lives would not be the same.

In a statement his parents said: "Ashley was a much-loved son who will be sadly missed by all his family."

His friend Dean Harle, who was also hit by the bus, is in Frenchay Hospital near Bristol, where he is said to be in a satisfactory condition.
