Increased beds for town hospital

Health managers have agreed to double the number of general medical beds at a Wiltshire community hospital.

The decision to increase the number to 20 follows a long campaign by doctors against reducing the size of the Chippenham Hospital.

The hospital will also have a £350,000 refurbishment.

A group made up of local GPs had expressed concerns that 10 beds would not be enough to cope with demand for care in the town.
