Special needs forum for parents

Parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) can take part in meetings in Wiltshire leading to a county forum in November.

The forum will give parents and carers the chance to raise SEN-related issues with educational specialists.

There will be four "pre-meetings" during September organised by Wiltshire County Council and the Special Educational Needs Support Service.

The aim is to improve understanding of SEN processes and practice.

The forum will also include discussion with parents about the provision of various types of SEN.

Parents can talk about the process for requesting a Statutory Assessment of SEN, transport for children with SEN and also their own involvement in SEN developments.

The four pre-meetings will take place in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Tidworth and Salisbury.

All issues raised at the September meetings will be discussed at the county forum on 17 November.
