Woman sexually assaulted in town

A woman has been sexually assaulted in Swindon, police in the Wiltshire town have said.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was walking along Marlborough Road at 0130 BST on Sunday when a man approached.

He pulled her towards him and sexually assaulted her, a Wiltshire Police spokesman said.

The man was white, 5ft 7in (1.70m), of stocky build and with spiky hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans, the police spokesman added.

Det Insp Helen Glasgow said: "This is an extremely serious incident but one which is thankfully extremely rare in Swindon."
