Shower refurbishment shuts pool

Durrington Swimming and Fitness Centre
The gym will remain open, but users are asked to bring bottled water

A Wiltshire leisure centre has been closed this week to allow a new shower system to be installed.

Mains water supplies at Durrington Swimming and Fitness Centre is having to be switched off during the work.

The gym will remain open, but users are asked to bring their own bottled water or buy it from reception.

The centre is scheduled to re-open fully on Saturday 12 July. Salisbury district council apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

Councillor Brian Dalton, Portfolio Holder for Community Initiatives, said: "I'm sure that users of the Durrington centre will agree that this is a worthwhile project that can only improve the facilities on offer.

"Improving the shower facilities at Durrington is part of a wider programme of investment that we are undertaking at all of our leisure centres for the benefit of our customers."
