Museum converted to youth centre

Builders have started transforming Swindon's old Railway Museum into a centre for young people.

The Grade II listed building on Faringdon Road is being converted into a cafe, radio station and youth centre.

The work should be completed by next September and the facilities will be available for other community groups.

Geoff Holt, who is responsible for youth provision in Swindon, said the project would help to improve the lives of young people.

"It gives a whole range of activities for young people, to help them make choices, to help them on the road to being an adult," he said.
