New health care centres supported

Outline plans have been agreed for two new primary care centres in Wiltshire.

The centres will provide modern GP surgeries and a range of other health care facilities for people in Devizes and Trowbridge.

Wiltshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is to survey residents for their views on which of three sites is best for Devizes and its surrounding villages.

Trowbridge's new centre will be developed on land owned by the PCT next to the community hospital.

The results of the survey for Devizes' new health centre will be reported to the PCT board on 24 June.

"These new facilities will be more than GP surgeries, as they will include a range of healthcare services," said Wiltshire PCT spokeswoman Alison Knowles.
