Man arrested in river murder case

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was pulled from a Wiltshire river.

A passer-by spotted the body in the River Avon near the Waitrose supermarket in Salisbury on Saturday.

The identity of the man is not yet known and a post-mortem examination is to be carried out by a Home Office pathologist on Sunday.

Formal identification of the victim is expected later on Sunday. He is thought to be about 40 years old.

When his body was recovered, he was wearing brown cord trousers, a green jacket and black lace up shoes.
