City march marks soldiers' return
Salisbury parade
Hundreds of people lined the city streets
More than 500 officers and soldiers from the 4th Battalion The Rifles have marched through Salisbury.

The soldiers, who are based at Bulford Camp, Wiltshire, were invited to the city by the mayor following their return from Iraq last month.

The troops had been on deployment for six months. Five men were killed during the tour of duty.

Hundreds of people, some waving flags, lined the streets between Cathedral Close and the Guildhall.

Brigadier James Bashall said the march would mean a great deal to the soldiers to see that they were valued by the nation and appreciated.
