Facelift for 40-year-old library
Melksham library in Wiltshire is to have a major facelift.

The work includes modernising the decor, installing a self-service system, creating an area for teenagers and spending £20,000 on new books.

The entrance will be opened up to improve access for wheelchairs and prams and visitors will also be able to buy hot drinks in a relaxation area.

The library will be closed for 12 weeks from October to January and a mobile service put into operation.

Community librarian Jane Dunmow said: "The library is now over 40 years old and the new décor, lighting and shelving will turn it into a bright, modern, welcoming place, where local people can enjoy our facilities in pleasant surroundings."

A survey form, where users can give their views on what they want from the new service, will be available from the library until 1 September.
