New buses to run on popular route
A popular bus service in Wiltshire is to get extra investment and new vehicles as part of a long term improvement plan.

The TransWilts Express (route 49) runs six days a week from Swindon to Trowbridge via Devizes and Avebury.

Stagecoach is introducing three new double-decker buses worth more than 500,000 to serve the route.

The timetable has been boosted with an earlier first bus from Swindon and a later last bus from Trowbridge.

The service has seen passenger numbers grow by more than 50% in the last few years.

In 2003/4 it carried 95,745 passengers compared with 147,780 in 2006/7.

The service receives around 85,000 in funding support from the county council each year.
