Eleven-year-old hit by van dies
An 11-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a van outside a Chippenham school.

He was airlifted to Frenchay hospital for treatment for serious head injuries suffered in the accident outside Sheldon school on Hardenhuish Lane.

The boy, from the Corsham area and not a Sheldon school pupil, was crossing the road when he was struck by a yellow VW van.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to call Wiltshire Police.

A spokesman said the boy was with two others on a grass verge opposite the school.

The two boys crossed the road first, followed by the victim who was hit by a yellow VW van travelling towards Old Hardenhuish Lane.
