Theatre closes as asbestos found
Wyvern Theatre
The theatre will close for at least three weeks
A theatre has been closed at short notice after an asbestos scare.

On Friday night Swindon Borough Council informed staff at the town's Wyvern Theatre that its main auditorium would need to shut.

Some asbestos material was found in the theatre during a routine inspection, a spokesman said.

He added: "Naturally, it requires immediate removal. Therefore we are unable to hold live performances for a minimum of three weeks."

Some 16 shows would have to be cancelled he said, including: One-Man Star Wars Trilogy, Puppetry of the Penis, Hellfire Comedy Club, Da Vinci Code and Nashville Nights and Dixie Days.
