£15K in benefit fraud recovered

Successful prosecutions have recovered more than £15,000 in overpaid benefits.

Gavin McDonald Conachie, 34 of 78 Hawk Street, Bromham was fined £75 costs and ordered to repay £6,309.93.

Carolyn Ann Earney, 48, of 20 Purton Road, Swindon was sentenced to two years' conditional discharge order and ordered to repay £4,853.39.

Karen Davis, 39, of 7 Cavendish Drive, Trowbridge was sentenced to an 80-hour community order, fined £75 and ordered to repay £3,900.35.

The prosecutions were brought by West Wiltshire District Council working with the Department for Work and Pensions.

Councillor Trevor Carbin said: "A very tiny minority abuse the system, but their actions can impact on others."
