The Exchange is one of seven improvement projects for Swindon
A developer is being sought to start off an ambitious regeneration programme for Swindon.

The Exchange is one of seven project areas in the town being considered for improvement by the New Swindon Company.

The £300m scheme includes new offices, homes, shops, bars and restaurants covering more than 17 acres of land.

Chief executive Peter James said they were seeking an "exceptional partner" with a track record of delivering high quality redevelopments.

"Swindon has a booming economy and The Exchange will help to provide the quality offices that companies need along with the improved retail and leisure facilities that local people say they want," he said.

The New Swindon Company, a not-for-profit Urban Regeneration Company set up in 2002, first unveiled its plans in June 2004.

Its other projects include:

  • The Arena: retail, commercial and leisure facilities including a central piazza
  • The Promenade: cultural facilities and potentially the new site for the University of Bath's Institute of Contemporary and Interdisciplinary Arts
  • The Hub: expanding Swindon's shops and extending the Brunel Centre
  • North Star Village: a residential area
  • Swindon Central: updating the railway corridor
  • The Campus: business development area
