A man has been arrested in connection with what police have described as a serious sexual assault on a schoolgirl in Chippenham.
The secondary school-aged girl was on her way home after school on Tuesday afternoon when she was attacked in woodland near the school grounds.
Wiltshire police said they have arrested a 40-year-old local man over the allegation.
Police said the girl was able to give a detailed description of her attacker.
The girl said she was walking along a lane when she said she heard a "raised voice" coming from the undergrowth, and was attacked when she went to investigate.
She said her alleged attacker was white, 5ft 6in (1.67m) to 5ft 11in (1.77m) and in his 30s.
He was described as having shaved dark hair and a small goatee, and a snake-like tattoo on his left arm.
Police said around 40 officers were still working on the case, and an incident room had been set up.
