Teenagers offered sexual advice
Young people seeking emergency family planning at pharmacies in parts of Wiltshire are to be offered support from a contraceptive nurse.

The new service for under-19s is being offered in areas where there is a high rate of teenage pregnancy.

Swindon has one of the highest teenage conception rates in the South West and Wiltshire's rural nature makes some advice services difficult to access.

Health bosses hope the service will reduce teenage pregnancies in the area.

A spokeswoman for Swindon Primary Care Trust said the contraceptive nurse service offered additional support to young people after they have been to the pharmacy.

"We would rather you delayed your first sexual experience until you are sure you are ready so you can make a positive choices about all aspects of your health," she said.

"But we can and will support you if there is a problem and you need emergency contraception or a pregnancy test."
