A British chaplain has been killed in a head-on crash in Romania.
The Reverend Major General Ian Durie, 60, died when the car he was in collided with a truck between Sibiu and Bucharest on Thursday.
Mr Durie, a retired army officer and grandfather-of-two from Salisbury, was in the country to taken part in an international Cadet Bible conference.
Two Romanian officers, aged 53 and 30, were also killed in the crash, according to an official in Romania.
During a 30-year career in the military, Mr Durie had commanded the Artillery Regiment in the Commando Brigade Royal Marines and the Divisional Artillery of 1st (UK) Armoured Division during the 1992 Gulf war.
He was executive chairman of the Accts Military Ministries International, a British-based international group for Christians in the military.
