Swimming pool crash driver jailed
Ashley Brixey, who died in the crash
Ashley Brixey, of Standerwick, died at the scene of the crash
A 24-year-old man who crashed his car into a swimming pool - killing his passenger - while twice over the drink-drive limit has been jailed.

Richard Joyce, of Trowbridge, was given a three-year jail term, 18 months of which were suspended, after he admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

Ashley Brixey, 20, drowned when Joyce's car crashed, landing upside down in the pool in Limpley Stoke, near Bath.

Joyce and a female passenger escaped from the partially-submerged car.

The body of Mr Brixey, of Standerwick in Somerset, had to be recovered by police officers following the crash in October last year.

Joyce was also banned from driving for five years, and ordered to pass an extended driving test before his licence is returned.
