Teen driver airlifted to hospital

A 19-year-old driver has been airlifted to hospital after a crash on the A345 at Ogbourne St George in Wiltshire.

Fire crews freed him from the wreckage of his car which was in collision with a pick-up truck at 12.15am on Saturday.

He was flown by air ambulance to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon for treatment to serious injuries to his lower body.

His two passengers were also treated for injuries, along with the truck driver who suffered a broken ankle.

The road was closed for five hours. Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.
