A man has died after he fell from a bridge over the M4 and was hit by several vehicles on the motorway.
The man, who has not been identified, is thought to have fallen from the junction 17 overpass, near Chippenham in Wiltshire, at 10.45pm on Friday.
Sgt Richard Day of Wiltshire Police said: "The man was found in lane one - it was apparent from his injuries that several vehicles had struck the body."
A section of the westbound carriageway of the M4 was closed overnight.
A grey bike believed to belong to the dead man was found on the A350 bridge over the motorway.
Officers investigating the incident have appealed for anyone who saw a cyclist in the area at about 10.30pm to contact them.
They have also asked any motorists who hit what they believed to be debris lying on the motorway to come forward.
