Cash crisis hits club's holiday
Youngsters with physical and mental disabilities in Swindon may miss out on their annual holiday because of a lack of funding.

The Rowdy Bunch, a Swindon Charity which runs a social club for members, makes a trip to Devon each year.

But this year's holiday is now in jeopardy after money problems left the holiday fund £11,000 short.

The group says if it cannot raise the money by the end of May, the trip will have to be called off.

The youth club, which draws its members from Swindon and the surrounding area, was set up with the aim of enabling disabled teenagers to realise their full potential.

It is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers.

The annual week-long activity and adventure holiday provides a respite for families who care for the teenagers on a day-to-day basis all year round.

It also provides a challenge for the youngsters, who undertake activities as rock climbing, wheelchair and free abseiling, canoeing, sailing and more sedate activities such as horse riding and archery.
