Bottling plant plans rejected

Plans to redevelop an old bottling plant in West Wiltshire have been rejected by the government.

Two companies wanted to build housing, retail units and a pub on the former Ushers site in Trowbridge.

The plans were approved by the district council's planning committee last year.

But the government has said the design ignores the needs of local people.

Illegal rave on Salisbury Plain

Ministry of Defence Police have revealed they had to break up an illegal rave on Salisbury Plain.

They said approximately 250 illegal revellers congregated during the early hours of Sunday 12 September, at Pear Tree Hill Farm, on the MoD estate contrary to military byelaws.

When asked to move off the land the police say the revellers became hostile.

A show of force from Ministry of Defence Police successfully closed the event during the early part of Sunday afternoon.

Enquiries are ongoing.
