Millionaire Major's last day in Army
Diana and Charles Ingram
The Ingrams escaped jail sentences
Disgraced Army Major Charles Ingram will leave the army on Wednesday.

Major Ingram, 39, was forced to take an administrative discharge after being convicted of trying to cheat the quiz show 'Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?' out of its £1m jackpot earlier this year.

He was given 28 days to quit his £45,000-a-year job by an Army Board last month.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "Wednesday is his last day in the Army and after that he will not be allowed to use the rank or title."

Former Royal Engineer Ingram will be allowed to keep his £13,000-a-year pension, after serving 16 years in the Army.

However, he and his wife Diana and their three children still face losing their detached four-bedroom red-brick house in the Wiltshire village of Easterton, as it is rented on behalf of the Army.

The couple have said they would appeal to be able to stay there.

The couple were found guilty of deception at London's Southwark Crown Court in April.
