Ridings sports centre to reopen after disease scare

A sports centre on the site of the former Ridings School which closed over fears that Legionnaires' disease germs may be in its water tanks is to reopen.

The centre was shut last month as a precaution after the potential for contamination was identified during the decommissioning of the Halifax school.

Calderdale Council said tests had found no contamination in the centre's water, air conditioning and heating supplies.

New systems are in place to prevent the germs from developing in the future.
