Leeds demolition work resumes after woman hit by debris

Demolition work has resumed on a tower block in Leeds, a day after a woman who used to live there was hit by rubble.

Marion Boyle was struck on the chest by falling debris as she watched the operation at Holbeck Towers on Friday.

Ms Boyle, 64, was treated at the scene by paramedics as a precaution and work was stopped while the Health and Safety Executive investigated.

A Leeds City Council spokesman said inquiries had finished and an extended safety cordon was in place.

The demolition work is part of a multi-million pound regeneration of three areas of Leeds.
