Man before court over Huddersfield shopkeeper murder

A fifth man has appeared in court charged with the murder and robbery of a Huddersfield shopkeeper who died after being attacked at his store.

Gurmail Singh, 63, was assaulted at the shop in Cowcliffe on 20 February.

Umare Aslam, 20, from Coniston Avenue, Dalton, was remanded in custody by the town's magistrates to appear at Bradford Crown Court on Monday.

Another man and three teenagers appeared before magistrates last week and were remanded in custody.

Mr Singh suffered serious head injuries in the attack and died in hospital the next morning.
