Fifth suspect accused of Gurmail Singh's murder

A fifth person has been charged with the murder and robbery of a Huddersfield shopkeeper who died after being attacked at his store.

Gurmail Singh, 63, was assaulted at the shop in Cowcliffe on 20 February.

Police said Umare Aslam, 20, from the Dalton area of Huddersfield had been charged with his murder and robbery. He will appear in court on Thursday.

Another man and three teenagers appeared before magistrates last week and were remanded in custody.

Mr Singh suffered serious head injuries in the attack and died in hospital the next morning.
