Protest march in Leeds

A march has taken place in Leeds city centre to protest against job cuts at Leeds University.

Demonstrators were also speaking out against a lack of jobs for young people in the Yorkshire area.

The protest came two days after staff at the University of Leeds announced they would hold strike action over compulsory redundancies.

The event was organised by the Youth Fight For Jobs group. The university has to make £35m of savings by 2011.

The University and College Union said strikes were planned at Leeds University for 25 February and 2 and 4 March.
