Last of the Summer Wine has been a BBC staple for 35 years

A pub made famous by the world's longest-running BBC One sitcom, Last Of The Summer Wine, is up for sale. Publicans are being offered the chance to own a piece of television history in the form of the White Horse Inn in Jackson Bridge, West Yorkshire. The 19th Century pub was often used as the setting for scenes for the comedy classic and as a place for cast and crew members to stay. The lease of the three-storey building is being offered for around £70,000. The pub includes a bar, lounge, games room, beer garden, dining areas and five en-suite guest rooms. The lounge area currently has a display of rare behind-the-scenes autographed and personalised photographs of characters and the crew filming over the years. Estate agents Christie and Co said: "The White Horse is forever linked to the popular BBC TV series due to filming having been carried out here for many years." Filmed in and around the Yorkshire town of Holmfirth, Last of the Summer Wine made its debut on the BBC in 1973. Earlier this year, the BBC announced that the programme would return in 2010 for its 31st series.
