An explosion and fire has badly damaged a recycling plant in Leeds.

About 20 firefighters were called to the Leeds Paper Recycling factory, in Fartown, Pudsey, early on Sunday after reports of an explosion.

West Yorkshire Fire Service said half of the site, which recycles paper, cardboard, plastics, glass and metals, was damaged in the fire.

Nearby roads were closed and the fire service was still at the scene several hours later.
