Parents' joy at baby's new heart

The parents of a baby girl from Leeds who is recovering after a heart transplant have said they almost gave up hope of finding a donor.

Sixteen-month-old Gabriella Filarowski had been on the waiting list for a transplant since October.

Gabriella is recovering well after the operation at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle on Friday, doctors said.

Angela Filarowski said the donor family had been "unbelievably brave" to donate their child's heart.

Andrew Filarowski described how they had "gone over the edge" in their belief that a donor would be found for Gabriella, who was born with heart problems.
