City run in memory of fundraiser

Jane Tomlinson
Mrs Tomlinson died after a seven-year battle with cancer

A second charity race in memory of fundraiser Jane Tomlinson is to be held in North Yorkshire.

The 10km (6.2mile) race will take place in York for the first time this summer and mirrors the running event which is held in Leeds every year.

Mrs Tomlinson, of Rothwell, Leeds, died in September 2007 after a seven-year battle with cancer during which she raised millions of pounds for charity.

The run has been organised by Jane's Appeal, the charity which she set up.

More than 12,000 people took in last year's Leeds 10K run, which was named after the mother-of-three.

The York race will take place on Sunday, 2 August, with places for 5,000 runners.
